National Coming Out Day Events Greenlit!

was doing some research on some of the events other places are doing and thought this would be cool.


going to have a door. It will be propped open and people can walk through the door and "come out". To involve the entire college community we made it so that anyone can come out as anything, even non-GLBTQ related (i.e. a Democrat, a brother or sister, what their occupation is, etc).

GSA tied purple strings around peoples' wrists to show that they were allies. This helped show closeted youth that they would not be ostracized if they came out, and that they would instead face a supportive community of students and teachers.

Cool fact

On Oct. 11, 1987, half a million people participated in the March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights and, thus, the first National Coming Out Day was born.

Let's to it, we have three whole days worth of things to do I say lets do it.

Only thing is...

where are we going to get doors for them to come out through?

if push came to shove we could use a quilt frame and maybe drop a tarp over it and pull it back or use the doors that lead to the elevators maybe.

I know someone who would probably let us borrow a door and the frame with it if I asked. (I was extremely involved in theater and the director loved me... and she had at least 4 doors in the barn)

I could go and see her sometime within the week and see if she would let us borrow the door? I'd just need a way to get it to the school. Anyone have a truck...?
